The Davis and The Tasco

A great photo of the three wheeled Davis car that was first built in Van Nuys, CA by Gary Davis. You can read all about it and learn much more here at the Davis Registry. The photo above is quite interesting in itself, showing a somewhat worn Davis in front of “Duco Bill’s”. Duco was a brand of lacquer produced by Dupont.

Below is a photo of the Tasco which was design by Gorden Buehrig who designed both the 1935 Auburn Speedster and the 810 and 812 Cord.

Both of these cars which featured many things which were developed in the aircraft industry can be seen in an interesting short video below.

Both photos are courtesy of the Charles Beesley collection.

  1. Harley Gene says:

The last time I visited the Auburn,Cord, Deusenburg museum in Auburn, In., the Tasco was on display there. It was in excellent condition about two years ago when on display.

  2. Gene…….The car was donated to the ACD Museum by Richie Cline so if anyone wants to go see it unless it is out on loan it is there.

  3. The third car in the video appears in the August 1946 issue of Popular Science. It was built in Los Angeles by a fellow named Jack Norvell, from a Chrysler driveline and various aircraft bits. He claimed to have reached 131 mph in testing.
