Really Old Motors….

These three photos show some incredible stationary engines that were built by the Kahlenberg Bros. of Two Rivers, Wisconsin. They have been in business since 1895 and built some of the earliest diesel engines in the county. Their specialty was boat and stationary engines of quite some size. They are still owned by the same family but they no longer build engines. Photos courtesy of Bob Apalsch.

  1. There were some Kahlenberg engines in use by the Corps of Engineers on the Mississippi. They were two stroke and reversed by stopping the engine and changing direction of rotation. That made for great close in work.
