The Maxwell….New Castle, Indiana Factory

A color postcard and a photograph from the Gene Ingram collection show us where the Maxwell racing car that was posted previously was assembled.

The 1909 Model KA assembly area at the Newcastle factory. All of the chassis after being assembled in bare metal were then tested and sent to the paint shop. The completed cars on the right are being temporally stored. The cars were assembled in place, which shows how it was done before the moving assembly line was implemented.
