Daytona…..Racing on the beach 1951

A very nice press photo showing the cars exiting a turn on the postwar beach oval track. The first stock car race on the beach using the new track was 1950. The first car in the photo above is an Olds, followed by a bathtub styled Nash and a Plymouth.

In 1951 Marshall Teague brought his 1951 Hudson Hornet into victory lane for his first career victory. He beat Tim Flock to the checker flag by 1 minute and 14 seconds.
