A 1933 Delage D8 Special Roadster

We were quite taken by this extremely tasteful and beautiful D8 Delage that the Patter-son Collection exhibited at the Louisville Concours d’Elegance recently. It was chosen as the best of show winner in 2010 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance because of  its exceptional quality.  It is powered by a 4060 cc straight eight on a very low chassis which drew on the company’s long competition history.

The car carries a custom body by the Carrosserie DeVillars of Nice, France. The company was formed by an Amercan, Frank Jay Gould, who moved to France in 1910. The firm he founded focused on style and perfection which is very evident in this example that was shown at the 1933 Salon de Paris.

  1. A lovely design, David. Thanx for this one and all your previous posts from the Louisville Concours. Appears to be a first class event.

  2. Just a small comment David, the carrosserie de Villars was not located in Nice as mentioned but in Courbevoie, a suburb on West of Paris.
Congratulation for your web site which is the most interesting.
