A Traffic Mess in Beantown

This photo taken during the month of August, in what appears to be the early sixties, shows us a traffic tie-up on the Southeast Expressway. This traffic problem was caused by a Metropolitan Transit Authority strike, which left the public in Boston to fend for themselfs after the loss of  all public transportation. The Old Motor photo.

  1. I’m not sure those folks have made it home yet.

  2. Posted for Dennis M., I’m thinking 1960. That is a ’60 Dodge in the foreground, almost everything else coming at us is early to mid-fifties. I do see a ’59 Chevrolet and a ’59 Ford headed away in the other lane.
