1940’s Cities Service filling station in Oklahoma City

This is another fine and rare photo from the Donald Ellis collection, origin-ating from Oklahoma City. A very small earlier photo exists of this Cites Service station when it was equipped with visible pumps. This photo shows the postwar make-over version looking like a ginger bread house covered with tile.

One of the most interesting features of this photo, are the two tall glass show cases on either side of the office, filled with advertising materials and dis-plays. Donald Ellis recalls that this station was located on East 10th Street in Oklahoma City.

  1. I have a similar pump. It is a Gilbert & Barker clock face T-495 with a “-26-” in the serial number which I would think was manufactured in 1926. I would like to learn more about it also.
