State Police are seen northwest of Chicago, Illinois and just to the east of O’Hare Airport in this press photo at a road block on Lawrence Ave. and River Rd. The officers in the photo dated Feb. 16, 1956, were handing out tickets to motorists whose cars were wearing 1955 plates. In less than two hours they had ticketed over forty motorists for having an unregistered vehicle and the woman in what appears to be a 1953 Pontiac convertible was one of them. * Update * The general consensus is that the car is a 1950 Pontiac.

I love how they back up traffic for miles for trivial stuff like that.
Hate to be nit-picky, ’cause I love your site and visit every day, but in the interest of clarity: there is no community of “O’Hare, IL”
The intersection of Lawrence Ave. & River Rd. is actually in Schiller Park, IL. Not to far from O’Hare Airport (which is in the City of Chicago thanks to a narrow corridor extending out the Kennedy Expressway)
Dennis, No problem at all, the Google map I looked at showed it looking like a suburb just east of the airport and the Catherine Chevalier Woods. No I now why I don’t use a GPS….. Here is the link https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=safari&q=o'hare.+ill&ie=UTF-8&ei=m6PwUJnLMKj00QG5o4GYAQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAA
Fairly sure that is not a 53. It has a split windshield . It also has a different grill , hood ornament and bumper .. than my 53 Pontiac .
It’s a ’50 Pontiac…
52 was the last year for the split windshield . So I read . So 50 sounds about right .
