Dodge was setting new all-time records in daily shipments of cars to dealers, when this June 6, 1950, press photo was taken. The cars were being loaded onto a Great Lakes steamer, which held more than 500 cars. They were being shipped to Buffalo, New York, for re-shipment to dealers on the east coast. The early 1950s was a time of excitement and prosperity for Americans and as we see in the Dodge photo above, things were booming. So was the fertile imagination of inventors wanting to cash in by bring a product to market. Here is one that did not catch on, but you don’t want to miss seeing it. Check out the one minute “Park Car” video (below) that was introduced in Piedmont, CA, in the early 1950s.

That’s a great shot of the cars getting ready for a boat ride. Those Dodge drivers must have been skinny characters, there isn’t much room to get in and out..
They must have started on the starboard side first and when they go to the port side maybe they could have opened the door a bit to get out ??
