Old Man Winter is here at the “Iceberg Service Station”

This is the perfect photo for a cold and snowy winter day. Seen here is the Iceberg Service Station in Albuquerque, NM., which was run by Frank R. Fortenberry on Route 66. Note the polar bear on the roof at the right.

The photo is courtesy of Joe Sonderman who has a  Route 66 photo  collection (scroll down) that we have been posting in a series. He has written a very interesting book you may enjoy called Get Your Pics on Route 66.

  1. Interesting, known as the Rio Pecos Oil Company’s Gas and Eats Cafe!

Demolished in 1972, which is too bad!
